Our Involvement
I've always been an advocate for helping my fellow humans with the basic needs in life: food, shelter, water, sanitation, hygiene, education, and love. Imagine what the world would be like if we all had all those things. Wow, it would be incredible! So, whether we are helping clients reduce the chaos and clutter in their lives so they can focus on what's important to them, or we are building a house for a family in need in Costa Rica, it's all about improving someone’s quality of life. And that has always been one of Simply Neat’s top goals, too: Improving the quality of life. Here are are some of the ways that Simply Neat is involved. Please visit the Simply Neat Volunteer - Get Involved page to see how you can get involved too!
Habitat for Humanity - Global Village Program
Now this is the way to travel! Over the past several years, I've traveled to Costa Rica multiple times with the Habitat for Humanity Global Village Program. Twice, I’ve been a team leader. These experiences have been truly life-changing. I have learned more about another culture, made friends in another country and learned to speak – and listen – in another language. Mostly, I’ve really learned a lot about myself..

Habitat for Humanity - Twin Cities
I recently put my painting skills to work painting the interior doors for a local Habitat house. It was an absolute blast! I thoroughly enjoyed meeting all of the amazing volunteers. Seriously, not a bad way to spend a day!
I'm looking forward to participating on a much more regular basis, including in my new role on the steering committee for Young Professionals Network group. I will also be celebrating my 40th birthday by doing a very special build with a few of my friends and family members!! (Of course, there will be dancing and other festivities as part of the birthday plans too!)

Be The Match
Every year, thousands of people desperately need a bone marrow transplant, but only about half will receive one. That number astonished me, and made me realize: I can make a difference by joining in the Be The Match effort. It’s one way we can all help answer the need. I requested the kit, followed the instructions when I received it in the mail, mailed the kit back in, and have now added to the Be The Match Registry. I'm crossing my fingers that I will be a match for someone in need of a bone marrow transplant!
Global Volunteers
My trips to Central America with Habitat have been amazing, but I thought I’d like to broaden the areas in which I can share my skills. So I have signed on with Global Volunteers. I still have to figure out which trip I will take, but that decision will be made soon! I'm thinking Ecuador or Peru to help with childcare for at-risk children, doing construction, or teaching English skills. The support staff at Global Volunteers has been phenomenal with answering my questions thoroughly and quickly. I'm extremely excited about this upcoming adventure and will post details as soon as I have locked up my trip!
Women's Foundation of Minnesota
Simply Neat contributes every year to the silent auction at the Women's Foundation of Minnesota's annual networking/fundraising event, The Stir. The money raised from this event goes toward activities to help with the advancement of equality for all women and girls in the areas of economic justice, safety and security, health and reproductive rights, human rights, and political power. The Stir is also a terrific event for meeting other women volunteers and businesspeople, whether at the booths or over cocktails or dinner.
Please visit the Expos & Events page for information on the upcoming event, or visit http://www.wfmn.org/ for more information.
